Hello, everyone who stumbles onto this page. I’m Aiden Anapolsky, a friendly person behind the program of graphic & web design at John Abbott College. You’re probably wondering; who is this person that’s making these blog posts? Well, I’m just a person. Really, nothing too special. Granted, I’m sure someone’s going to find me interesting, but if it’s not you? Understandable. Have a great day.
In all seriousness, I’m a guy who’s trying to make an impression. Maybe not a name for myself, that’s for a more confident person to handle, but an impression nonetheless. For that same reason, I made this (not so) little page to answer all the questions for the person behind the program of GWD.
Who am I as a person behind this program?
Well, to answer that truthfully? A shy person. Many people don’t want others who are shy to work with them. Unlike many other shy people I understand that. The only shy part about me’s when I meet people. That’s it. Not so scary, right? OK maybe a little… Anyways, if you can get over the whole introverted and little to no confidence part of me, I’m very personable in a one-to-one setting, able to have a (big enough) capacity of patience and maybe just a little bit of an over-thinker. Overall? Very mature for someone who’s 18 years old compared to many of my generation. (no ill-intent there, I swear) As stated in the beginning, I go to John Abbott College. Less known? Maybe. Good campus? Yes. Good teachers? Interpret how you will if you want to go.

Where am I?
As stated near the beginning of the page, I go to John Abbott College, a College exclusively located in Canada. I’m, more specifically, in Montreal. If you want even more specific? Dollard-Des-Ormeaux. The way I go from DDO to St-Anne-de-Bellevue is by car. (My mother drives me, no shame) After 5 more years of living here (By the time 5 years passes it’ll be 2031) Me and my family will be moving out, but not quite clear as to where yet.
What do I do as a person?
As far as simple terms go, I make things. Physical and digital things. Physical things I make are things like posters, advertisements, stickers and many more. For digital it’ll be things mostly revolved around websites. If you want to check some of my work out, you can go to the print or web portfolios.
When will I be starting my career?
That’s… that’s a very difficult question to answer. On one hand, I’d love to start sooner rather than later. On the other hand, this isn’t the career I wanted to have.
Small bit of context of why.
To put things into perspective, I do like my program. It has practical work which can integrate creativity and artistic values into one. (On occasion) The only problem is that Graphic and Web Design isn’t the career I want. The real career I wanted to have was Game design. However, the only options I could’ve had were either too competitive or too far away for me to be able to get into them. Even if unwanted, it’s still applicable to many things. With that being said, I will be able get through the course and transition out of it.
Why did I choose to go here instead of anywhere else.
With full transparency and as short as possible, I chose John Abbott’s GWD for 3 reasons. It was the least competitive option which was presented to me, It fit for me location-wise, and It didn’t have as big a course load. For context here, GWD at John Abbott is 7-8 courses per semester. Some other competitors are as much as 11 courses per semester. No thanks, I’m good.
And that’s pretty much it. Thank you for hearing me out and for taking a look. 🙂
